Kim Kardashian thinks people aren’t taking her law studies seriously

Kim K and Law Degree? Surely not?!

If you’ve been living under a rock you may have missed the announcement, conveniently made exclusively in an episode of KUWTK, that Kim Kardashian-West has decided that she wants to add becoming a lawyer to her long list of accomplishments.

And when a Kardashian, like, wants something, Momanger Kris, totally, makes it happen!

Lucky for Kim (and Kris), California is one of 4 States in America that doesn’t require a law degree as a prerequisite for taking the bar exam. So Kim K convinced a law firm in San Francisco to let her become a “law reader” and undertake a four-year apprenticeship where she has to complete at least 18 hours of weekly study under their supervision, and pass a number of exams along the way.

After completing the apprenticeship, she’ll be able to take the California bar exam and if she passes, she’ll have all the credentials she needs to practise in the US.

“There is a misconception that I don’t actually have to study and that I’ve bought my way into getting a law degree – that’s absolutely not true,” she explained in a recent interview with that well-known legal magazine, Vogue Arabia.

And when she’s not studying, she’s updating her 150+ million Instagram, 62 million Twitter and 29 million Facebook followers on … how hard she’s studying.  She’s even posted pictures of her study notes, so it must be true.

Joking to one side, Kim K appears to be doing well. It is an unconventional route but one which was taken by a number of Supreme Court judges and US presidents.  Kim has been at it since June and we wish her the best, but if she lived in Australia could she become a lawyer this way?  Short answer is nope.

In order to be admitted as a lawyer in Australia, you need to do three things:

  • complete a law degree or equivalent course;
  • undertake practical legal training; and
  • demonstrate that you are a fit and proper person.

Sorry Kim, not even Kris can get you out of these things.
